Friday Five

1. Who is your favorite singer/musician? Why?
If you mean actual singer outside of an entire band, I can’t narrow it down to just one. I’m particual of Ogre of Skinny Puppy of course as they are my favorite band.

2. What one singer/musician can you not stand? Why?
I can only pick one?! That’s bullshit! Well, I would very much like to see Fred Durst of that shitty Limp Bizkit die in a fiery car crash. Why the world is robbed of someone like John Ritter, who entertained millions on Three’s Company among other roles he played, yet we still have this jackass around is one of the great injustices of the world. While yr at it, kill those two litte nancys in Gay Charlotte too.

3. If your favorite singer wasn’t in the music business, do you think you would still like him/her as a person?
It would depend on the person I guess. I don’t like people for what they do, but rather who they are.

4. Have you been to any concerts? If yes, who put on the best show?
Hell yeah, I got to TONS of shows (at least this year that started up again, there was some lean years for awhile where I seldom went but now they are fun again). Skinny Puppy remain the best show I have ever seen. All 10 times were amazing, but the first time, in 1988, was the best of them all.

5. What are your thoughts on downloading free music online vs. purchasing albums? Do you feel the RIAA is right in its pursuit to stop people from dowloading free music?
Personally I will always buy music for the vault, especially on vinyl. However, I think they are getting out of hand by suing people now. Chances are good that if some kid downloads an album and likes the band, he is going to go see that band play when they come to town, and may even buy a t-shirt. The band will benefit from this because playing shows is where they get most of their money, they usually aren’t raking it in by the record sales. The major labels hate this because the record sales is where they get all their money and how they are able to rob from their artists. I’ll all for “sticking it to the man” and downloading major label records. Fuck them! However, you should absolutely support the independent labels and buy their shit. If I like a band, and the label put out vinyl, you can be damn sure I’m buying a copy, and may even buy the CD as well.
