First off, thanks to everyone for the nice birthday wishes, it ended up being a fun day.
While cleaning up the office here at Combustion Manor the other day, I came across a big stack of old photos I took at various shows in the early 1990s. This obviously was a long time before the invention of the digital camera. I used to take photos at shows to use for my printed zine at the time, Spontaneous Combustion. Sadly due to the sheer number of years that have passed by, there is a good handful of them I couldn’t identify as to who the bands were, I have simply forgotten. There was a stack of them that were labeled on the back by Dark Dave when he was over here back then. I wish I had his good sense and labeled the rest of them. Anyway, I thought it might be fun to scan some in and share them.
These shots are of Rocket From the Crypt when they played with Rodan opening at the legendary Lounge Ax. Sadly I don’t recall the date. I do remember that being the first time I ever saw Rodan and I thought they stole the show. Right before their last song, one of the band members announced to the crowd, “we have 5 minutes left of our set time so this is going to be our last song, we’d never want to go over and infringe on RFTC’s set”. After this declaration, they played “The Everyday World of Bodies” which was a nearly 13 minute long song! It was also their best song. RFTC took the stage afterwords and played a great, albeit slightly shortened set. This was the first, and I think only time I saw RFTC play.

Also are you really going to go to Riot Fest? I look forward to hearing how bad “The Dead Kennedys” are. If Jello and The Melvins play out there, I hear about half their set is DKs classics. THAT would be worth seeing.
I am going to both nites cuz I got free ins and photo pass for both. AFAIK, Jello/Melvins is not part of that show.
