Dew-Scented is a thrash metal band from Germany that has been around for 15 years now and Invocation is their newly released eighth studio album. The band experienced some lineup changes this time out and after being sequestered  for a couple of years getting things together, they finally offer up this new album.

The music of Dew-Scented is pretty straight-forward thrash metal. There’s influences of Slayer in the guitar riffs and there’s an underlying influence of 1980s thrash metal in the song structures. The drums are very fast, often with double kick drums which set a foundation for dual guitars battling for supreme heaviness in their delivery of riffs. The riffs are rapid fire and thick with some interesting leads thrown in for good measure.

The vocals are full on yelled and growled and the singer sounds like he is really pissed off at everything. They are very in your face and menacing. The songs all clock in around four or five minutes which is pretty much a perfect length of time for this style of music.

If you are looking for some powerful thrash metal then you would definitely find Dew-Scented’s latest offering to your liking. Their eighth studio album is a very solid and well put-together record that fans of the genre will certainly enjoy.
